I spent the most glorious day on Lake Superior today walking along her frozen water. We were two soul sisters joined as one. The day was brilliantly sunny and despite -24°C with wind-chill of -32°C, I was comfortable (the shoreline helped protect me from the wind).
Seven hours by myself on Lake Superior. It doesn’t seem that it could get better than that! But then add her gifts of ice-crystal-palace caves and huge ice archways and it becomes heaven. I stopped for lunch on the shoreline looking out through about a storey-high ice archway to the horizon marked only with the vastness of frozen water.
No matter what our logical mind tells us, in my case being safe outside in such cold temperatures for so long, when we feel joy we are where are meant to be. We deserve to be in this place of peace.
